EIM offers direct thermal labels in paper or synthetic constructions. Our Direct Mark Value product is an inexpensive paper option for general-purpose applications. The Direct Mark Plus is a synthetic DT label which offers better durability, longer-lasting print plus resistance to abrasion, moisture, and chemicals. Direct thermal labels do not require a transfer ribbon. The label has a special heat activated layer where the black print image is formed on the label as heat from the print head is applied. Eliminating the ribbon makes for easier media loading and a lower cost per label. Note: Direct thermal labels are primarily used for short term use. DT labels will fade or brown with age and will turn black if exposed to heat or strong sunlight.
